My opinion of my atlas 15

Well the nice fedex man delivered my atlas the other day (no school cause i was home sick) i ordered it friday and it way there by wednesday, but enough about shipping what about the sub? The first thing i noticed was that the package was a fair bit heavier than the tempests. I ripped it open, checked the spider was still atatched, and gave it a look over! first thing i noticed was the moter. Not HUGE not oversized, but definately made for some serious output (lots of venting and very solid). The carbon fiber dustcap is definately cool. Anyway it was too much to bear so i took it up stairs, hooked it up to my amp, and did some 20hz excursion tests with the signal generator. The first thing i noticed, was that off of very little power, you can get more than 2" of stroke! no sounds of stress either. I hope to give y'all some lsitening impressions in a box soon, but i gotta build it first, and stuff is holding that off.

Anyone want some excursion p0rn?

the maximum excursion would be the pressure inside the box vs moter strength. Its XBL^2 so it doesnt bottom out( the cone will hit the basket before the vc hits the backplate. And by a small amount of power I mean that I still have a fair bit of headroom on my 240 watt amp. 1" each way should not be a dificult task for an XBL^2 moter.

Home sick. Yeah, right.

But then, you need to bypass the duties by making Ascendant Audio write that the driver is worth less than 50$ CDN or then you need to add +15-20% to the price of the driver to pay for taxes and duties.
Our company also ships internationally, and we have customers asking us to do this all the time. Our response is: "If you expect us be honest with you, our customer, don't ask us to lie to someone else."

Ok, I'm getting off my soapbox now...

Hehe, problem is the stupid canadian government who charge duties and taxes for electronic coming in but nothing for electronic coming out.

I sent my order to a USA friend, who wrote all boxes under 35$ USD and saved around 60+$ USD on a 265$ USD order. I would even save money by lending a car to go pick it up in USA damnit...
