My first venture into a digital system.

Hi all, I want to build my first all digital system so let me tell you what I have to play with...

I'm an Apple fan, so I have a macbook pro feeding a server in the loft with my music on, the majority in lossless format.

I have an apple tv, which I would like to use as a source..

PMC TB2s speakers with Flying Mole DAD100 monoblocks.

So you can see what I'm missing is a preamp. I have a friend who is offering me a Benchmark DAC1, which I'm tempted with, but what other options do I have?

Is the ATV good enough as a pre on it's own?? (don't think so)

huh? dont you mean you need a DAC? with integrated pre?
