Hello all 🙂

Nice site ya got here...wish I would have found it sooner!!!!

Here's a pic of my first DIY speakers...that I just finally finished!

I must say that I have gotten some great help/advice from sites like this one...and without the help/advice I've gotten, these speakers wouldn't have turned out nearly as well as they did. Even tho I didn't use this specific forum while building the speakers...thanks for being here. This project would not have been possible, for me, if it weren't for fine DIY sites like you have here.

These speakers use a TAD 1601a woofer, a JBL 2441 driver hooked to a 500Hz EdgarHorn "saladbowl" and a Fane 5022 tweeter on top.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my new speakers 🙂

Hi guys...thanks for the kind words 🙂

Joe, I certainly hope I get that much use out of my mits. I always thought it was kinda funny...that some people would say they will never buy a large screen Tv because they only last ten years or so...yet, many of these same people will upgrade their computer every two years for the same price.

I had thought about spikes...but decided against them for now...there are some isolation feet underneath tho.

I'm blind..

I thought it were compact speakers on 'stands'.. I didn't see the TV also..

I looked at your thread at audiokarma.org (or something like that, can't remember as it was a bit late).. I thought "what is he doing, buiilding those large boxes, he's only making compact speakers"...

guess not..

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Could you tell me what those weird things made out of wood that lie on the top of the boxes are?

kelticwizard ...thanks for the resize! 🙂

SisterOfMercy...boy, that was a picture from some time ago...almost seems like a year has past! Wait...it probably close to a year that HAS past 😉

that is a pic of the first box for the woofers with the bracing on top. Since then...the bracing was attached to the inside of the cabinet and we ended up doubling up the 3/4" hdf with a second layer of veneered mdf.

YOU'RE blind ?!
I thought they were compacts on 'stands', I didn't see the TV and I don't even know what you're talking about with the weird things made out of wood.

Thanks for the resize Keltic. I'd just applied for my white stick. If my hearing was as bad as my eyesite I'd be out of business. Sorry, what's that you said?

Nice looking speakers though.

Oooooooooh! I thought you had fabricated your own claming system when glueing..

@7V,

I'm sorry, my english isn't that good, especially the part when it comes to expressing myself.. it's terrible.. But I inserted an url into my post.. with some very strange looking pieces of wood, that seemed to be the internal bracing..

Those are very nice looking speakers. Wish I had patience enough to make my stuff look that nice You'd think someone who makes musical instruments for others and can do a violin finish would be able to make nice looking speakers. I always get in too big of a hurry.
Nice job.
