I recently picked up a used pair of Denovo 3 cubic foot sealed subwoofer boxes (18x18x18). I would like to use them for music subwoofers. The speaker cutout is 18" but I could go smaller if necessary by building an adapter. I will be using a Velodyne SC1250 amplifier DSP subwoofer amp to drive a subwoofer (I have two). They have an adjustable crossover and automatic 7 band room equalizer (with microphone).
I am interested in suggestions for the subwoofer driver I should pick up that would work well in the 3 cubic foot box. As mentioned this is for music only so I could live with a lower limit of around 30hz.
Regards,
Gary

I won't be playing them that loud, so no SPL requirement. I want them to sound clean and articulate. My budget is probably around $500 per driver. Maybe more if there was a significant advantage. The Velodyne SC1250 amps are spec'd at 1250 watts into 4 ohms.
Assuming close to 3/4 inch material, and excluding any bracing
the theoretical volume is close to 3 cubic or 2.97 using 17.25 " internal dimensions
If bracing and loss space from driver volume itself.
be closer to maybe to 2.7 Cubic feet
Would be fine
Sealed Qtc of .707
Is 2.68 cubic feet or 77 liters
Basically a perfect match.
Dual Coils run in series for 4 ohm load

White Dragon,
Thank you for the input. By the way it was my error but the box size is 4 cubic feet. I was aware of the UM12-22 but had read that it is not good for music in some other threads. More of an HT subwoofer. Have you heard it and is it good for music.
Much appreciated
