Mullard EL84 ID

Hi all,

picked up a old radio at a flea market for a project, amonst other valves it
has one mullard el84, on closer inspection of this valve it is not like any other
mullard el84 i have ever seen....

It has no round hole in the plate but 3 small slits.

a halo type getter that is not on an angle,

white lettering with old style shield logo(also foreign made printed)

the etched code reads rX1 (# i think) 7D

is this a genuine mullard tube?

rX is certainly one of the Philips codes for EL84s, but although stamped Mullard it looks as though it was made in either Eindhoven or Japan. Google "Philips factory valve codes" and you will find the list.

it seems to look like the first one on the web page Ty Bower has pointed out.(thank you)

1953/ 1957 hamburg factory... albeit with a different code???

the valve i have is/looks unused (will have to test) all the other valves in radio look new also.

ultra rare they say. is there any historic reason to preserve this or just use/ sell this
valve .
i assume the value is the same as any nos mullard el84 (vulgar question i know but would not wish to mislead any buyer)

If you're saying that the first symbol on the seecond line is like a # sign but with only one down stroke that would indicate manufacture by Siemens & Halske in Munich.

the factory (7D) date codes are impossible to understand

but a nice vintage valve.
