Possibly -Mu Metal is usually a foil, say 0.01" thick or thereabouts. That may be lead for vibration damping. I can't think of another plausible reason for it to be applied like that.
They look suspiciously like the stick on lead weights (5g in the picture) used for wheel balancing on cars and motorcycles...

mu metal has about the same look. But sheets are some times rather thick (maybe 1/32 to 1/16 inch). I don't think that a foil would be as effective.

Mu-metal can have various finishes, spotty to polished.
Agree those "5"s would work well as wheel-weights (lead).
A good builder-supply has lead flashing in sheets, which be better looking dead weight.

Yep. That's why the weight is imprinted on them.
