I am looking into nakamichi amps..
Re-1 comes with harmonic time alignment. Looks like agreement/license ran out and nakamichi had to come up with their own circuitry to replace stasis.
Ta-2a, ta-3a,ta-4a (taiwanese made)
And sr-4a, sr-3a (Japanese made) come with stasis.
I have re-1 with harmonic time alignment.
Online conflicting info.. some say its a step down. Some say it's an improvement.
With my set up re-1 sounds amazingly good. I have pretty laid back vienna beethovens. (Old 2 Midrange version)
Re-1 does show more volume or 3d in voices, midrange.
Was hoping Mr Nelson Pass could elaborate on differences.
I might pick up either SR or TA receiver with stasis soon.
But RE-1 is kind of very impressive

I understand it's not sound degustation forum)
Nakamichi re-1 can sound a little too bright though at louder volumes with some recordings.Compare to luxman r115 it has more pronounced midrange and tweeter. In the process of evaluating. Nakamichi will probably be too bright in b&w speakers.
Interesting thing about nakamichi re-1.. is that only 1/4th volume knob adjustment makes speakers sound at their maximum. . Really loud
Will await for technical feedback on stasis vs harmonic time alignment.

I don't have any information on the HTA series, however I take the
relationship of the 2nd harmonic with respect to the music seriously.

I am looking into nakamichi amps. Re-1 comes with harmonic time alignment.
It's described as having low, wideband open loop gain, minimizing phase shift so distortion harmonics
are not shifted in time relative to the fundamental, and are so less audible. It's more a design approach
than a particular circuit.

In that case, not the same stuff. The harmonic phase I'm interested in is
not particularly related to frequency.

Interesting. . Of course the terminology and concepts are a little blurry and abstract to me.. but sort of resolved one thing which is hta is not a continuation of stasis or update.. hm.. picking up ta-3a and ta-4a in few days. Well see how it sounds compare to few other decent amps
Also is stasis a circuit in power amp sections of Rd a-3a, 4a . Or pre amp. I assume it's power amp sections.
After licensing the patent and giving an OK to the initial amplifier,
we didn't do any more work with Nakamichi product.
They did not inform us about the internals of later product.

The polarity more than time?
And just one quick question.. is there anything wrong with RE-1 if it pops so much power at 1/3rd or 1/4th of volume knob position. Vienna are 4ohm speakers.
But woofers move soo much at minimal volume knob That increasing volume higher may damage speakers I think. Bottoming out and etc. Speakers are very loud. Midrange tweeters at only 1/4th or 1/3rd volume.
Sound does not sound distorted. This relatively light amp sounds much more powerful than yamaha mx1(200w at 8ohn, 260 at 4ohm) power amp in same set up.

Do the woofers move like that only on phono, or on all sources?
There may be a LF instability in the circuitry before the volume control,
due to bad capacitors, etc.
I actually only use cd input. It's not a bass heavy amp. Actually sounds like a great woofer control . Excellent control. No blurriness in bass or midrange. I was just saying that speakers sound like they are powered by 500watt amp or something. Woofers need quite a bit if power. It's not out of control movement. I am just overly impressed by so much power out of 11kg amp
It's not just woofers..maybe i mislead you in a way.
I might recapp this amp anyway.

It's probably due, if you can safely replace them, but only the electrolytics and tantalums, no films.
Just had a quick listen of ta-3a and re-1 side by side.. very similar sonically.
RE-1 is tiny tiny bit brighter, on brighter side actually with some recordings of bright vocals . Bigger sounding lower midrange, bass. So an amp thats best to be matched carefully.
Maybe it's difference in power delivery. But RE-1 sounds more alive or dynamic.
We will see how ta-4a sounds.
It's just an amazing discovery. Re1. I actually did not even want to listen to it because of horrible reviews and people screaming their heads out to stay away from Re series..
No 1 sleeper amp at this instant of time. Good on laid back speakers not bw, Focal and others.

Hmm.. just wanted to post an update. So people online don't get confused. . It's basically my stupidity unfortunately. Was listening ta-3a with audio mute ON..
Well with this button off. Different story. And very impressive. Extremely clean vocals, piano.. with That 3d pop. Worth the hype and money for sure..
Though Some say solid state sound more or less the same.
