I'm curious to put together a list of titles seen and the viewers impression of the experience. I had in mind the title of the flick, and also WHO released it in the format you watched it in.
I ask this because I've seen "The Dark Crystal" on VHS(qualitly was awfull) on DVD(predictably reasonably good) then I bought it released by "Superbit" on DVD hands down a better release!
"Superbit (tm) DVD'S utilize a high bit rate digital transfer process that optimizes video quality and offers both DTS and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. All Superbit (tm) DVD's are widescreen presentations in the original language."
Anybody else see one of their DVD's so we can maybe confirm a decent release company?

Not too familiar w/ Superbit, but I've seen some "Criterion Collection" releases that were pretty nice. All my "1st generation" DVDs look terrible. Seven is the worst (it's double sided and the movie only 2 1/2 hours or so).
My Lotr Extended Ed is the best quality DVD I've ever seen, it's a New Line job. The other New Line Cinema flicks seem well done.
When I read 'Superbit' it made me laugh a bit. I never actually new they were a real company (legit one anyway), I've only ever seen the name 'Superbit' on pirated DVDs/VCDs 🙄

bad quality? nooo lol not the ones they sell on my area 😀
in New York there are bootlegs/pirates everwhere and these days the quality is lookin GREAT!

I don't have any Superbits DVD but from what I heard, foreign language tracks are removed to leave space for higher quality image and sound.
Being from Quebec, I'm a bit disapointed to buy a DVD without french track... but anyway 🙁
I think the best DVD I've seen so far is "Gladiator" in DTS (in terms of quality... the story isn't bad either). The battle at the beginning is incredible with arrows flying everywhere and horses running over cracking dead branches (is that an english word ?) and the sound of the catapults. Well, the quality is impeccable and I would recommend it to everyone.
"The Shawshank Redemption" was a great movie too. Less spectacular than "Gladiator" but Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are incredible. The DVD is ok but I was disapointed however that the french language track has been modified from the VHS version which was like a superb poem to my ears. By the way, is there anyone here who knows why language tracks are sometimes completely changed compared to the VHS version ?

you can also get superbit dvd's at best buy etc...
of the dvd's ive bought from regular stores...
best= tie- saving private ryan/pearlharbor/gladiator all in DTS
of the superbit's= desparado/gone in 60 seconds
i like a lot of older movies which are typically dolby and maybe the receiver does dolby digital sometimes.
my little secret is the hook up i get from this dude.
20-25 region 1 or all region dvd-9's (my choice) for 145.00
they are english and have everything i want for seven bucks.
my girls favorite is jurasic park, and the fake and the fraudulent (read fast and furious)
pretty much anthing with war, cars or planes is cool for surround sound, but i dig stuff like coolhandluke, the graduate, the godfather, scarface, trading places, the big red one....

superbits are almost always great. i havent come across one that isnt superb. as far as any others, star wars epII (bad movie, great audio and video), toy story ultimate toy chest, lord of the rings extended cut, gladiator, traffic (criterion), ANY SUPERBIT, shrek, saving private ryan.
It seems superbit has a prety good product so far, I've only seen the one.. but was impressed. It looks like all reviews of any superbit title has been a thumbs up. With Criterion and New Line Cinemas in followup spot.
Up the anty....also in the list of yeahs and nay's....who has the rediculous "install this awesome DVD software now yes no cancel" as if every DVD is the first DVD you have ever viewed on your computer.....get the heck off MY screen
! Superbits Dark Crystal does not ask to install a player 🙂
The way I see it...if I'm going to collect DVD's they ought to be the best quality for the money, also have or sometimes more importantly NOT have certain features.

nonono... When you have a pirate who really enjoys his work, you get realy nice looking movies. Sometimes rips of the dvd screener... lol... Stealing movies is so wrong.
