Having a fun day off and really enjoying this channel.
They recreate movie scenes often done with real vehicles and higher budgets.
Done with Miniatures.
Very fun how they kit bash existing models and add more with 3D prints.
I knew the concept as a kid. Watched plenty of ILM documentaries and had a few books.
Anyways, I really tried doing this stuff with Tonka Toys and other large Die Cast toys in my sandbox.
Must say that the Sony Beta Video Camera and editing equipment did not quite cut it.
But heck even then, this equipment was not at every kids disposal in the 80's.
And who the heck had 2 video tape machines for editing. Well we did, still did not matter. But heck we tried.
Plus attempted edits in Camera, and one video tape deck had sound dub options.
So took a million years to get old sound effect records, queued up. Then que the video, drop the needle wait and hopefully tap pause on the Beta in time.
I tried I tried lol.
Think the sand box location shoots, got put on hold. Likely after some concern with Dad letting the beta cam go into the sandbox.
Thinking back, miss the old guy. The cost of those electronics back then was very high. So at least he did support it going into the sandbox
a few times. Pretty supportive risk thinking back. any hoo blah blah. Dropped a few examples from the channel. This would be mind blowing as a kid.

This reminded me of the 1997 bond film 'the spy who loved me' I remember watching the scene where the supertanker captures a submarine and thinking the water looked odd. Many years later I discovered that those special effects were done by the man behind Gerry Anderson's supermarionation series. Water is hard. Admire these guys focus on detail (dare I say obsession?)
