I just dismantled an old UPS, the inverter used 2 pairs of 3 transistors in parallel to drive the transformer.
The parts are TO3, and are marked 69-206, MEX, 8545. I've not tested them yet, wondered if it was worth the effort.
So far only the NTE catalog shows any info, but what they do show is interesting, NPN, 300w, 50A, 80v.
Do any of you guys have the real datasheet?
Stuart

In my book, the 69-206 is equal to ECG29
http://tvservice.org/components/CROSSREF.PDF : search for ECG29 which is 2N5686.
Motorola is one of the manufacturers.
Datasheet here: http://www.datasheetarchive.com/209.html but only Mospec and Semelab are available.
The OnSemi complementary part 2N5684 datasheet is here: http://katalogi.iele.polsl.gliwice.pl/en/
Google some more and you will find the 2N5686 motorola datasheet as well.

Thanks
I appreciate it, I think ecg and NTE must be the same company, they both have 29 as their equivalent.
