What brand/type of single core shielded cable is most popular with diyers in the US ? For audio use of course for interconnecting boards etc. Nothing exotic.

A friend says he cannot find anything that is just a plain decent single core shielded wire. Most he says are exotic types. Is that correct ? He wants to buy a 50 foot length.

I did a short search on the Net and found some difficulty finding one.
Can someone give me a link to a supplier ? By single core I do not mean single core inner wire. It could be stranded of course. Maybe I should say mono core as the market is full of balanced cables.
Thanks.

Just came across some at partsconnexion.com

Mogami. For many uses the type 2333 is quite good. Small diameter and quite flexible. I also use 2534 for interconnects. Use the four conductors inside in groups of two twisted together like a twisted pair and then the shield connects only on one end. Very low noise. Plus the wire comes in cool colors. I get both types from Markertek.

I prefer using two core.
It removes the temptation to break the return of the signal circuit.

If screening is needed, then use a screened twisted pair for the extra interference attenuation.

Where a coaxial is used you will see many that break the screen connection to "cure" problems.
This is the worst thing you can do to a two wire signal circuit. You must maintain the Signal Flow and Signal Return as a close coupled pair for the whole route from source to receiver and back to the source.

Well RG174 is single core and shielded. LMR-100 is a very nice version of it and available online at real world prices.

Agreed. I have hundreds of feet of both. I like LMR for my gear but the Belden is somewhat easier to get at reasonable prices. I used the Belden in my LM3886 ChipAmp Kit and LMR for my homebrewed LM3886 amplifier. I have not used them as interconnects but I have used larger Belden and LMR for that purpose with good results.

For interconnects I have recently used ultra low mass connectors and silver wire with pleasant results at a fair price.
