I though the Venom woofer was for subwoofer applications?

yes.... how come when I posted pictures of my speakers using the same woofers, no one pointed this out? 😛

We figured you had it covered. Remember, by the old DIYAudio system, you would be considered "Enlightened".:geezer:

🙄 plain speakers??

Sorry, wrong word or something like that 😎 The question was, is that box tuned or you friend bought this speaker with that port because it was so cute together and...is it calibrated at all ? I hate to be misunderstood, but most of the time... :bawling: lol

I have a pair of those in my system at the moment, and if you drive them with a really clean signal they give excellent results. A silk- smooth and non-abrasive sound, but can really slice the air with ease if the program material calls for it.

Stereo imaging is moderately good in that the centre image is quite sharply defined and the sound often appears not to be coming from the speakers themselves but from that space in the dead centre. Mine are about 4 metres apart and you can localise the sound to about +/- 20mm. 3D depth is pretty much non-existant though. Not sure if it is the speakers or the recordings.

There are better tweeters around, but you pay more of course. FWIW, I like these ones. Just drive them with a clean signal. If they sound gritty and ragged, it ain't this tweeter's fault.

Hey Rod, I saw some stuff in some old posts about neophites etc (can't remember my D&D) ratings for people (was in an old thread where Mr daniels was being quizzed about changing from being Harry Potter), but I've never seen it since I've been on diyAudio, is this an old thing that was done away with?

Hey skinny I think what postman was getting at was that if the ports are mounted "off center", then they should be a mirror image 🙂 (ie not both on the left hand side, one on the left and one on the right) I suspect this is purely for asthetics though!

Tony.
