OK, not sure if I'm wasting my time here but I have some audio equipment sitting around and decided l'm going to use it on my small boat. My priorities are to only use what I already have, "really don't want to spend anything to make this happen" It has to be as loud as possible considering it will get used in an open outdoor environment and be listened to from 30+ feet away, and last it must run off an iPhone/iPod. All speakers will be mounted in a row horizontally on a baffle 2' high by 4' wide as this is my only available location, I can make separate boxes for each mounted behind baffle. Here's what I already have for it: Full range class D amp 50x4 @4 90x4 @2 each side has HP, LP, and subsonic filters - (2) 60w 6x9 Aura RPM coaxial speakers - (1) Dayton HF 8" woofer 4 ohm freq range 27-1000 hz. My plan is to have the 6x9's mounted on left and right powered by channels 1&2 with the HP x-over set around 100 hz and have the woofer mounted in the center powered by channels 3&4 bridged with LP x-over set around 800 hz. Then the other day I was told I may want to consider running it mono because it might sound better in an open outdoor environment. I asked some friends and got different responses but nothing solid or use full, I'm hoping someone here has some good knowledge/experience with this that could tell me if it would be worth it and if so how would I go about feeding all 4 channels a mono signal.
