Monitor Audio Silver S1 repair

I recently acquired a pair of Monitor Audio Silver S1s, but alas one of the woofers was stuck fast fully out. Previous owners probably got carried away with the volume knob. Anyway, removing the driver and I managed to get it to go back in but it scrapes badly. The resistance has dropped to 1.2 ohms so the voice coil has gone too.

A new one from Monitor Audio is £68 which seems a bit steep to me. Particularly if they have been a bit abused in general.

Does the forum think it is repairable? I think I could replace the voice coil if I could find one suitable, but are they available? Are voice coils very specific? If I found one the right dimensions, resistance etc would it change the sound dramatically?

Many thanks for your help,

Simon.
