I have some stands that I'm very attached to because they are easy to fill and seem to be built very well. The problem is the top plate is way to big and when I set monitors on them, it looks bad with 2 inches of overlap.
Can I even consider having these cut or ground down to size or should I just look for new plates? Where would I find new plates and someone to drill the hole with a beveled opening? Metal and welding shop.
Is there an online source for speaker stand plates? The screw hole seems very standard when I compared it to other stands.
Here's a pic.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Hello loop7, the two things that occur to me:
1) contact the mfg of the stands and find out if they have other options.
2) take some measurements to determine what you want, then bring your plates to a machine shop. They should be able to either cut the current plates to the size you want, or make new plates.
Peace,
Dave

Thanks Dave. There are no markings or labels indicating manufacturer so I will take your second piece of advice.
