Hi,
I was wondering what results one might expect from mixing different variants of the Fostex FE103 in (for instance) BD pipes? I have a pair of RS 1210dc and wouldn't mind trying out the BD pipes. Wondering if I can reasonably get away with using whatever other cheap variant I can get my hands on or if it is critical to use the exact same driver?
Beyond that...curious if anyone ever pairs dissimilar fullrange drivers in the same cabinet and with what results. Say an 8" and a 3.5"?

provided that you use similar types in each of the two locations on something like the BD pipes (my first real full range project), you should be fine
as for the second, you'd probably want to isolate the smaller driver in a sub-enclosure (and perhaps even HP filter it) to avoid excursion and inter-modulation issues.
When we were playing with BD-Pipes we did some of this... i plan on puting a set of tarted up FE103A in the front of the pair we still have, leaving the 40-1197 on the back.
