Missed Opportunities

Ever kick yourself for missing a live performance? I have several times, and I just missed another.

A part of the problem for me is that I do not watch the local news or read the local (free) newspaper. I am sure if I did, I'd have fewer regrets. So it is my fault entirely.

The latest missed opportunity was a free Lou Gramm ("The Voice of Foreigner") concert last Saturday at Sun Peaks Resort. Foreigner is one of my all-time favourite 80's bands. I have memories of being a 12 year-old and rocking out to Foreigner "4" -- "Juke Box Hero", "Urgent", etc. Great stuff.

I missed it. I didn't even know about it until I was chatting with my father's neighbour yesterday and he was telling me about how incredible the show was. Lou's voice was apparently just as great as it was 30-some years ago.

Kicking myself? Big time!

Last summer we missed a free Blue Rodeo concert at the same venue. My wife is kicking me for that one, since she is a huge fan and she has a "secret" crush on Jim Cuddy.

From now on, we'll be making a concerted (pun intended) effort to KNOW about these events.

So, what about you? Missed any opportunities?

Missed one last night. But intentionally. We had four tickets to a show, but the particular performer has gone on a sudden political binge and I had no interest in being lectured to about whatever stupid thing he is feeling righteous about.
