Miniature speakers

Well , the price of about 15 € might seem high , but nothing compared to his brother SPX-20 that costs double ,which has a larger VC diameter , 25 instead of 20 mm of the SPX-21 , but less Xmax . It also has some less power , but I plan to use
it as a mid-tw , coupled with a wave guide , which raises the pressure level of about + 3 dB !
I just received them the other day so there's still a lot of work !🙂

See that's a fair price, Switters!

But I was actually rather looking for something smaller than a 3". You see, I'm aiming at something similar to an external mobile phone speaker to have with me when hiking. So it has to be as small as possible and still sound okay. I found a 3W mini amplifier on ebay which I'm also planning to use together with some AA batteries.

And also, I would like to build it myself 🙂

EDIT:
@picowallspeaker: Say I was gonna use the SPX-21, what would be a fitting enclosure for it? Can you use a speaker enclosure calculator for this small a unit? Like WinISD for instance...

Uh ? Sorry I'm not that type of guy ! I plan to use it open back , of course
with some absorbers behind it . I usually do the try-and-listen procedure , and usually I make the two boxes all together : if it doesn't work , I destroy it !
It's maximal pleasure to destroy bad sounding thingies 😛😛😛
If it's going to be portable , a half liter should be enough . Maybe a little more if double chamber reflex is used 😕😱

Oh okay 🙂 Well I haven't built anything this small before but WinISD tells me 0.11 litre enclosure which could be a 6x6x3 cm closed enclosure if the speaker is mounted on the outside. Does anyone know if that is gonna work? 😛

Well, I've worked with a pair of that small TB's on my friends sculpture. Square flanges made round, placed inside turning light housing and I can say that you'll be nicely surprised with the sound quality of these tweeters. They can go quite low with nice non intrusive highs

Okay. Because I was wondering if the small size of the enclosure would need some kind of special calculation but I guess physics are physics. I've never worked with such small speakers before obviously 🙂

And thanks for the reply.
