Fostex FF125wk drivers or similar. I looked at Frugalphile, some nice designs thanks. I like the Short Classic GR dFonken125 2v01b
miniOnken is the generic name for the alignment used with our (typically standpoint) high vent ratio speakers.
I try to aggregate all the free designs together at frugal-phile.com, but they ar ein fact spread all over.
Usually 1 plan for each driver is released from the paid plansets — often a CGR (Classic Golden Ratio). The paid plansets have many more plans including trapezoidal & rectangular boxes with vents up the side, CGRs (more), CFS (Compact Flootstander — select drivers), & more. planet10-hifi miniOnken Plan-Set Subscriptions
The free CGR for the FF125wk is a good speaker and the CGR planset i did is the best layed out one.
If you haven’t yet gotten drivers, perhaps the membership can offer their views.

Oh my yes, there will be no dearth of advice forthcoming.
A short list of qualifying questions with which I always like to start include :
- application / venue / primary listening distance ;
- type of music/ anticipated volume levels - often overestimated, in the old days a cheap SPL meter could help with that assessment, now there smart phone apps that are good enough for ball parking;
- available power

Application will be in my small office, for listening while working at my computer, so listening distance will be only around 2-3 metre, I listen to classical music, mostly opera. Hoping to get a small 15-20 watt valve amp.
Size matters if you want some bass. Build the wide GR's if that's important. Sounds like the speakers won't be flanking your monitor, but sitting elsewhere in the office?

Could your budget spring for Alpair 7.3 or Pluvia7? It’s been my experience that whatever the real world sensitivity “penalty” between them, for any given size of driver in this weight class - and in similar sized enclosures- the Mark Audios will deliver wider bandwidth than the Fostex.
Thanks for the advice. Alpair looks to be outside my budget but the Pluvia 7 would be possible. Not really thought about the exact location of the speakers, probably on a shelf or mounted with brackets on the wall.
where are you planning to source the drivers? At kjf audio alpairs are currently on sale. I couldn't resist the offer and I recently build cgr slim version with them. I'm very happy with results (and I think they are not fully burned in yet). Anyway if pluvia is similair sound wise, I believe you will be happy with it too. Good luck with build🙂
