Guys
I'm going to start a new speaker build in the next couple of weeks. I have the FE127E's on hand and I'm currently running them in, in a cardboard enclosure. Strangely enough they actually sound quite good in cardboard. Anyway...
I was dead set on building the metronome but had second thoughts because my woodworking skills are terrible and because they are quite tall they'll cost a fortune in birch ply (can't get them to fit on the smaller size sheets)
I mostly listed to folk music (Martin Carthy, June Tabor, etc) and run a small push pull valve amp and use a PC (Asus Xonar Essence ST) as my source.
What do you recommend for my circumstances?
Thanks
Chris

well, if you're talking about this design:
http://homepage.mac.com/tlinespeakers/FAL/box-plans/fonken-tune-FE127-FS-Mk2.pdf
it's not a particularly difficult build, delivers pretty good bang for the buck, and it's been my experience that the FE127E just luvs em some 8-20watts of tube power.
do pay attention to the note on ballasting the lower cavity, as even with a wide base plate, it can be a bit tippy
Yes that's the one I was thinking. I've heard good reviews of both and the metronome looks like a very tricky build so the floorstander is the one I'll go with
Thanks Chris
Thanks Chris
Met will take the FE127 lower, but perhaps not with the same finese. The floorstander is a much easier build, and uses a fraction of the panel material as the Met.
