I have an spv-300-48 and an sp-200-24. Both claim to have fan control. Fans are 2 wire so no pwm going on I guess.

Both also have temp switches on one heatsink.

Both psu fans run seemingly full blast all the time. I added an 82R to the 300 48 and it has tamed it but still too audible . I do hear it fluctuate slightly but maybe that's my mains in the house fluctuating.

Any tests or mods to get the fan to work properly?

Yes the OFF bit seems only to happen when you pull the mains plug out of the wall!🙂 it's been on for 3 hours tonight. Fan spinning merrily even though the case is stone cold. Maybe a small temp inside but nothing needing forced cooling. I ran it with the fan removed and it gets pretty warm but hasn't overheated.

Have seen some small pwm boards for fan control using ntc. I'll have a read of the link.

Thanks

Actually there's no need for a third wire for a fan that has to be controlled, as temperature is the parameter to be regulated, not the fan's RPM value, of which the yellow wire just gives an information.
Unplug the fan and measure it's supply voltage when you power on your cold unit. If it is about the fan's nominal value, and if the unit's datasheet promises a controlled fan, a fault has to be assumed.

Bes regards!
