I have a McIntosh MCD7007 which is about 10 years old. Lately I've noticed that when opening the tray the unit makes an crackle through one of the speakers. This is intermittent problem. Also noticed that lower bass frequencies are not as punchy as before. I spoke to a tech (i'm not too versed in cd players, and tinker with tube gear) about the problem and he indicated it is probably in need of new capacitors. It won't cost much to repair, but I wanted to get a few opinions before repairing it. Do the capacitors need tobe replaced on older cd units? And would they be the culprit for bass loss?
