I would like to build a Dynaco Mark III power amp (ues 2pcs KT88 push-pull), because I have a 5K output transformer, may I use it? (the orginal output is 4.3K)
Thanks.
Thanks.
You'll lose a little power, but not a sonically significant amount. It will also increase the feedback somewhat, so surely you'll have to diddle with the compensation a bit. But with non-original transformers, you'd have to do that anyway.
Given that loudspeakers are not perfect constant 8 Ohm resistances, worrying about a change from 4k3 to 5k in the output transformer is trivial. It'll probably be better!
