I was on holiday with two chums in a static caravan on the shores of Loch Lomond one wet and miserable weekend in autumn 1964.
I have a lasting memory of the evocative strains of 'Baby Love' emanating from our Hacker portable radio.
Mary Wilson and company certainly helped lighten the autumnal gloom.

I have to ask, were the shores as Bonnie as they say? Never had the chance...
RIP Mary... Was she the one to do the occasional "response" in the background on their songs? Loved that voice -

RIP Mary.
Great singer with a great voice and also known for her community/charity/humanitarian efforts outside of performing.

RIP Mary Wilson...in the middle '60s Motown was a force to be reckoned with and The Supremes reigned along with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and The Four Tops. It was a fun time to be a teen.
Motown is still going strong in in the UK.
A lot of the lesser known stuff ended up as UK northern soul music.

The 'Bonnie, Bonnie Banks' didn't look so bonnie in the driving rain! We went to a local dance, but left early as the local girls didn't look so bonnie either!I have to ask, were the shores as Bonnie as they say? Never had the chance...

So, it turns out that Diana Ross pushed her under the bus. In an interesting twist of fate, the Supremes Number Ones is available in the original mix of equal voices:
