Marantz PM66-SE - need help to identify a resistor

Hi,

My trusty amplifier has burnt one resistor (my fault because I reconnected some wires in the wrong position). I have photo of the board before, but the quality is bad and I cannot be sure of what type of resistor it is - the colors are not clear in the picture.

I would love to have the service manual for this amplifier. Can anyone e-mail it to me? My e-mail is joaquimfonseca@netcabo.pt

If this resistor has burnt what are the chances that other parts have also suffered? What else should I check? I guess that the cables that I reconnected on the wrong position are one of the 2 in the pictures.

Obrigado! 🙂

I thought that with the service manual I would be able to figure it out, but guess what... I can't! 🙁

So I need some help here.

1- What type of resistor it is? What are the colors on int?
2- Do I need to buy a specific brand or any brand will do it? I would like to avoid to buy cheap components that would ruin the sound quality.
3- I need someone to tell me exactly how those 2 cables should be connected.
4- I need someone to tell me what else might have burnt

This is very old, but the sound is very good. If I send it for repair here in Belgium I think I would pay a fortune, so the only option is to try to fix it my self.

I know how to solder, deolder and most of the basics. But I cannot do such a repair without almost a step by step help.

Thanks

Use the 'search' feature in this forum and search for 'PM66' and you'll find the solution - it's R802.
In your machine, R802 (& R804) have already been replaced.

If you've connected the above cable incorrectly, you may have destroyed the RIAA equaliser - you'll need to fix the power issue first. Q801 may also be destroyed - it's severely stressed (it desolders itself due to excessive power dissipation) in the default configuration. :redhot:

Good Luck!
