Marantz CD84

What is the mechanism of the Marantz CD84? I've seen it mentioned as CDM1 at some sites and CDM2 at others. Are the electronics similar to the Philips CD304 or CD104?

CD-84

seem to be the (electrical) twin of CD304.
The design is however quite different.
