I would really like to rebuild this amp and am trying to find sources for parts. I know that sometimes these old caps are ok but this one could fry eggs.
No luck yet finding this can cap, could someone provide a source or explain what my alternatives are? Thanks again for your patience!

1. Triode Electronics and AES (tubesandmore.com) have a 30/20/20 @ 525V for the ST-70 - parallel the two 20s and use it as a 30/40.
2. JJ makes dual can caps, but they require a mounting clamp, as they don't have the same mounting tabs.
3. Disconnect the can and replace with two 33 uF caps under the chassis.

If I need a 30/30, how do I make a 30/40 work?
Sounds like using two caps under the chassis is the way to go and probably the least expensive.
Thanks for the quick reply Tom.

30/40 is fine - values aren't critical, and were often specified as +80%/-20% for electrolytics. This part is expensive, but looks original. My choice would be the JJ 32/32 @ 525V - on sale for $7.95 at Antique Electronic Supply, needs a mounting clamp. I'm not sure if you can get two 33/500V caps for that...
