I have made two surround ”eggs” to complement my chn110 tower speakers , using the similar looking but much smaller chn50 driver in a small cabinet.
Two IKEA 12 cm wooden bowls and a 3 inch 22mm Mdf ring was glued and painted in black. I used a round black cable and making the drilled hole in the speakers very tight so they dont need any connectors. Inside there is sheeps wool and no crossover at all.
These speakers will be mounted on two speaker stands with a round base.
The reason I made these speakers is the new software in WiiM ultra , allowing dolby digital 4.0 with the help of my older WiiM PRO and my Hypex ncore 125 amplifier.

This is the equalisering needed for my surrounds , using dsp.
As you can see, I have highpass filtered the surrounds at 80 Hz , using -12 dB shelving because the eggs only go down to about 100 Hz.
The dsp dip centered at 1.6 kHz is depending on the diameter of my speakers, there is a rise in the response without dsp because of some diffraction.

Very beautiful! Nice and solid bowls as well, good choice. How do they sound?
Is this dsp built into the Wiim Ultra?

Yes , I use a WiiM pro on WiFi for the L/R surround channel's, and my Hypex ncore as amplifier . Just like with the Ultra, there is room correction and 10 band PEQ for the back channels also.
They sound very good for the purpose .
They are really small ( smaller than optimal ) so no bass below 100 Hz . One can use room correction in the Wiim pro to have it flat 100-20000 Hz .
