Hello,
I have an AKG C414 B-uls that I have modified for improvement in the electronics. I changed three capacitors in the signal path to high quality, polypropylene, and the last cap in the signal path to one of the more transparent electrolytics available. Most all of the slowness and high end distortion is gone now and it is sounding quite good, but now I want to put in a more lively capsule. Since this is a FET design rather than a tube one, I am not sure I would put a C12 clone in there. Maybe too bright. However, I love the M7 capsule and was thinking of putting one of Theirsch's blue line M7 capsules in the mic. This may be a dumb question, but would this be possible? Can the M7 interface with the 414? I know the M7 is a single backplate among some other differences, but I am not sure if I could make it work.
Thanks for any help here,
Matt
