I dont like the look of the original LX mini.
I have an idea here.

It is not the final one,and the foot is too small.

I have ordered the speakers and the drawings .

As long as you retain Siegfried's very carefully engineered internal dimensions and configuration /spacing of the forward facing driver, you should be OK.

Change any of those, as well as the crossover at your peril.

I will try to retain volumen and placements ,but try a new design.
I have build Pluto model with my own design.

It is easy to make the right volumen, but is it nesesary to use a tube. If so, I might use the tube inside ,and make a outer cabinet like the drawing.

6" pipe and appropriate cap eliminates the rubber coupler and give the speakers a more clean (if somewhat squatty) look.
A 6" pipe cap has a circumference not much greater than the LXmini driver, so the radiation pattern is minimally altered.

There's no doubt that the acoustically functional aspects of all of Siegfried's designs might be a hard sell for some "domestic managers" 😀, but a review of the LXmini's builders' gallery demonstrates some creativity.

Siegfried,
This is my second set of LX Minis, unfortunately the originals (see the 5th pix up from the bottom of the gallery as “Ray”) were not accepted very well by the domestic manager. The new ones retain the original design within a 7 inch square housing finished in Tasmanian Blackwood to match other furniture . No measurable difference in response was found between the circular and square construction, the box edges and corners do not seem to have any effect.
Thanks again Siegfried for a great design !
Regards, Ray Australia

I rather like the smooth lines on this take by a Chinese builder

I like the chinese model.
I will make the mid+high cabinet octagonal truncated cone too.

Is it OK to make the upper tupe as a truncated cone with a 2" hole in back and 3" in front?
I will try to draw it,using sketch up.

Designer already said:
"The LXmini is designed as a transducer, from electrical voltage IN to 3D acoustic radiation OUT. The most important elements in the design are the drivers and the pipes to which they are mounted and their relative arrangement. Look at it as a two cylinder/piston electro-acoustic motor. It is a machine, not a piece of furniture, and it has a beauty in its lines and simplicity of execution. It is a machine where moving or changing mechanical elements will change its behavior to varying degree. Do not ask me about the audibility of a change. Do it and compare it to the LXmini as designed to find out whether it was worthwhile."
