Hello!
I have a Luxman L-410 and a Yamaha AX-1070 connected as follows: Yamaha AX-1070 as Pre-amplifier and Luxman L-410 as Power Amplifier.
Problems and questions:
1. How come they work together only interconnected as it is on them two on the Pre-Out plugs both on Yamaha and Luxman, should it not be: Yamaha Pre Out, Luxman Main In?
2. Why do I have to turn the volume up on the Luxman to start putting some load in the speakers for the music to play. Should it not be no volume pot turning at all since it is a power amplifier?
3. Would Brumm accour on the relays of the Luxman if I would let the volume pot the same on turn off, turn on of it when it is time to play?
- To answer a question of yours if ever comes into discussion: I have connected them togheder: Yamaha on the Pre - Out, Luxman on the Main In and no result with every button pressed and tape functions misc. and recording.
Thank you!

All the inputs go in to the Yamaha. It goes like this: Source --- Yamaha --- Luxman as Power --- Speakers.
The volume control of the Luxman is grounding the signal at the pre-amp out RCA jacks, that's why you need to turn the volume up on the Luxman. What happens when you use the main in jacks of the Luxman and the signal processing switch set to "ON"? The "signal processing" switch isolates the power amp from the pre-amp.

The signal processing is the tone control knob isn't it? I havve put a speaker on Left Side / Spk A on the yamaha and sound came out only on Direct, that means Direct knob pressed for direct to be switched on.
No, it's the switch on the rear of the amplifier, switch it to "ON" and now the pre-amp is disconnected from the power amp.

Why would you use the Yamaha as a pre-amp? It can only do one thing - degrade your signal.
The Luxman does not have a pre-amp at all. It's a straight power amp with an source selector and volume control. The tone controls are in the feedback loop and can be disengaged completely.
However, given the age of your Yamaha - I would bet it doesn't have a pre-amp either. So you're basically moving the source selector and volume knob to a different box, which is totally unnecessary.
I would remove the Yamaha entirely and enjoy a less cluttered stereo with a sleek looking Luxman in the middle. 🙂
EDIT: I was wrong. The Yamaha has a whole lot of crap going on in the pre-section. I would definitely recommend removing that completely.
