Low frequency neodymium compression drivers?

Hi everyone,

I bought a couple of mid-range horn drivers from Parts Express recently, including an Atlas Sound PD-5VH and a GRS PZ1188 Piezo. However, neither of these have really fulfilled my requirements so I would like to ask you all for recommendations for what to try next.

I'm building a hand-held full-range horn loudspeaker. I need a horn driver that is lightweight and has low frequencies (down to 200Hz or as low as possible).

The GRS Piezo satisfies the weight requirement but only goes down to 800Hz. The Atlas satisfies the low frequency requirement but weighs 2kg!

I don't mind if the high frequency range of the driver is limited.

Aside from the weight issue the Atlas PD-5VH satisfies my requirements perfectly, so I'm wondering does anyone know of a horn driver that is equivalent to the Atlas PD-5VH in specs but uses a lightweight Neodymium magnet instead of the heavy Alnico that the Atlas uses?

If such a driver exists then I would love to hear about it!

Thanks in advance,
Jerry

could you get enough sensitivity with a cone driver adapted for your horns ?

I looked for siren drivers but expensive new and probably don't weigh much less than your Atlas (which think is alnico)

3" ferrite - about 1 pound
LaVoce FSF030.70 3" Ferrite Full-Range Woofer 8 Ohm

3" Neodymium - about 0.43 pound
LaVoce FSN030.71 3" Neodymium Full-Range Woofer 8 Ohm

2" Neodymium $13 - about 1/3 pound
LaVoce FSN020.72 2" Neodymium Full-Range Woofer 8 Ohm

and another 2" LaVoce
LaVoce FSN020.72 2" Neodymium Full-Range Woofer 8 Ohm
