I'm thinking/hoping about building a decent loudspeaker for my father-in-law who's a musician. He's into classical and Christian music and I think a full range driver based loudspeaker would be perfect for him.

I have selected Dayton RS100-4ohm because of my budget constraints and availability and am searching for designs for it.

And by the way, I found this, by Harderror which seems like a very interesting build.

Shall I go ahead or is there any "better" design that I'm not aware of ?

Thanks for reading 🙂

The Tabaq speakers are an economical and simple build and will be more in keeping with your budget. The Dayton RS100-4 has been successfully tried in the Tabaqs, although you may have to adjust the dampening to suit your taste.

Some comments on the Dayton drivers can be found in this page -

You'll find the plans here -

Please note that the driver cut-out centre has been modified since the original plans were released.

Thanks for the help !

Gonna read it thouroughly when I get back from work

BTW, I can source Tymphany- TC9FD18-08 ( 3.5") as well as Tang Band W3 - 1053SC (3") drivers . I don't know they are better than the Dayton RS100-4 !
So, can you comment on that ?

So, I have opted to do a TABAQ TL with Tang Band W3 1053SC driver.

I have ordered the drivers and it would reach home tomorrow (hopefully) and I'm planning to buy the 15mm MDF panels after confirming the dimensions of the enclosure.
After getting the confirmation, I would be posting the drawing with BOM and estimate here.

Then I would be making the speakers with the help of my friend and would do a listening test to determine if it needs a BSC or not. After that, I would be doing a comparison test vs my existing speaker, the Magnat Monitor Supreme 1000.

Can't wait 🙂
