Loudness volume control .... Lifeless

Hi,

I just played around with this $8 loudness volume control from China. It seems to have killed my bass, treble and made it dull. Do you think it's a good idea to add a JFET buffer after the pot ?

Yes, 100k is too large for an unbuffered output. A 10k pot would be ok.

Looks great, but junk those PIO capacitors for a PP film type. Keep the jfet sound clear.

Or just change to a 10k pot. Cheaper, and no active circuit or coupling capacitors needed.
This will sound better. These are very good quality stepped resistor controls.

Will the DACT Type 21 Stepped Attenuator do the same thing as a loudness volume control ? So I can balance bass vs treble. I only found this guy:
