I have this amp on the bench with the symptoms being no output. I have checked the output transistors and they seem to be fine. I did replace a one of the mosfets in the power supply section but I think it was rather my fault on that or it was just weak and decided to fail on the bench while powering it up.
I have only done a few car amps so far and I find the service guides a real help in understanding how the signal is processed and such. So, I am asking if anyone has the schematic or service guide for this model. I really would appreciate it.
I plan on calling the company today and see if they will provide a service guide on this for me but I am a bit pessimistic about my outcome.
I noticed that there are two high wattage resistors that get very warm at the middle of the board on the amp side - not the power supply side. So, I know there has to be a short of some kind there. But I would just feel more comfortable with a schematic to go by.
The car amp is a Powerbass ASA800.2x
I am new to the forum and do have a question about schematics and service guides. Its pretty general and perhaps a noob question but what are your go to sources for service guides and schematics? How do you acquire them? Best practices? I think what really holds me back is just getting the documentation on the amps. Any advice in this matter is really appreciated.

The resistors that are running hot may be part of the regulator circuit. If so, the heating is normal.
The following are two sources.
Service Manual free download, schematics, datasheets, eeprom bins, pcb, repair info for test equipment and electronics
Keres? - Service Manual finder | ElektroTanya | Service manuals and repair tips for electronics experts
For Japanese amps, service manuals are generally always available but not always free. For some manufacturers, service literature is essentially unobtainable and if you want a diagram for those, you have to make it yourself.

Hi Perry,
Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I didnt see much at all about Powerbass on those sites and this company looks to be in Ontario, Canada. So, I might be out of luck as per a schematic goes. But with your advice I will trudge on 🙂
I will try and call them and see if I can wrangle one out of them. Doubt it but worth a try.
Thanks again.
Those sites have a lot of manuals/diagrams, even if they don't have the one you need.
If powerbass won't supply the diagram, they will at least sell parts, which is better than many other manufacturers.
