i just wanted to make my first post a introduction , i found this forum by mistake and i am not regretting it , i cannot beleve how cheap it is make some of this stuff . any how my name is scott , i live in wales (uk) . i want to make one of them lcd thingys ,and hopefully will have 400 quid (uk pounds) at my disposal , are there any tips you pros could give me as were to get most of the stuff to really **** off my mates who spend loads of cash on these things in the shops ? ......

I would grab the £400 and buy a second hand one (or even new ) on ebay! lol
Unless you’re like me here and want to end up spending just as much for a DIY lamp/projector as a commercial unit would cost… I now have parts for 2 projectors (lenses, balasts, lcd, commercial projector-no lamp, etc…) and have completed none…lol maybe its just me!
But dont let me put you off, some people here have achieved brilliant results. And there is always the fun of building it and to be able to brag to your m8s about it I guess!
One thing is guaranteed, if you go the DIY way, there are guys here who can answer most questions us mortals can think of…
