LM3886 or upgrading to YATA (Yet Another Tripath Amp)

To get me going i picked up a few cheap items, a Dayton DTA-1 which seems to be a twin of the UFO looking Sonic Impact t-amp.
And set of TEAC satelites i've been working on ever since.

Rather than working on the t-amp to compensate for the bass roll off, i was going to pick up a Pop Pulse 2024.

But i noticed how nicely the setup responds to the opamp i use in my headphone amp that i use to feed the amp.

Does anyone have a suggestion regarding a LM3886 design that uses (a) opamp(s) that would allow me to tune the sound of the amp to my liking w/o having to switch opamps in my headphone amp (i prefer different opamps for my phones than i do for my current speaker set i think)

Stereo is fine, doesn't have to be dual mono. If it had a single op amp per channel it would make it easier to stick to opamps i already own.

I take votes for "forget all that, get this t-amp from hong kong it has (a) opamp(s) too" or "forget the opamp on the amp, just buy the chipamp.com stereo kit and be done with it" or even a reponse i can't think of😉

I guess this means i also wonder which amp would sound better in and of itself.
Would be great to hear from someone who owne[d|s] both and can tell me a little about how different they sounded.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

I'm mostly interested to hear why you like the LM3886 based amps better, if i get enough "whys" then i can use that to help me figure out if i really want a LM3886 based amp or stick to tripath chips.

Thanks,

Daniel

It is very much dependent on the type of speakers you have, if you have speakers above 90dB(preferably 92dB and above) than you can stick with the Tripath otherwise no matter how much you play with TA2024 chipset you will not get the BASS you want. If you want to stick with the Tripath I suggest look into TA2020 or TA2022 chipsets both will give you more power output.

I own both Tripath(TA2024) and Chipamps(LM3886 and 3875).

Cheers.
