This is a small 2x2w based on LM1877 with quality audio caps. It is assembled without PCB and provides crisp clear sound in high frequencies. If you like pure treble you'd like the sound this small amp makes.

Very interesting. I had dismissed this chip based on the fearful rise in distortion with frequency shown in the data sheet. Intriguing that this is the very area you have highlighted as a strength. Love to know what's going on there!

I added low noise polycarbonate in parallel with polyester film caps in distortion trap, pins 7 and 8, also wirewound resistors, low capacitance bypass caps for better treble response, no pcb must make for better component contact and conductivity, copper wire frame for decent grounding.
