little theorie about elliptical reflectors

Hello,

I have a little problem using my elliptical reflector in the diy projector. The reflectors radius does not correspond with the diameter of the lcd panel. So I have to set up my elliptical reflector quite far from the lcd as I want to cover the complete lcd area with a nice full beam of light. Otherwise, when the second focal point of the elliptical reflector is placed matching the focal distance of the first fresnell, the light beam is too small. (see attached picture, situation A)

Here is my question: is it theoreticly correct that adding a condensor lens (with the "convex"-side towards the reflector) between the reflector and it's second focal point will change the position of the second focal point? (see attached picture, situation B) This would imply a wider beam of light in a shorter distance.

I am not an optical ingeneer, neither a well speaking englishman, but your thoughts about this little theory would be most appreciated!

Thanks.

Regards,

Koen
