Linn Axis PSU smoking

Hi,
This is my first post but you have to start somewhere!
I know this problem has come up time and again but I would be very grateful for any help out there.
I have an Axis PSU which has stopped working.
The first thing I noticed was the 2 main power resistors R2 and R3 had burnt out. I replaced these to find R1 starting to smoke and burn out so I replaced this along with D1 and all the largest capacitors (as recommended on other forums) However as soon as I switch it on now R1 starts to smoke so I turn it off straight away.
I have checked the 4 main power transistors and they all seem to be ok.
Now I am at a loose end as what to do without replacing every other component on the board.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, thankyou,
martiny
