Hi, I am getting one of these and 2 10" Kenwood subwoofers(Don't know anything else about them, I have some pics of the labels on the amp if anyone needs) from a friend. Anyone know how good this amp is?
Also, is 8 Gauge wire good enough to run for the power(I Have a huge spool of it), or should I get 4 gauge?

Linear Power 3002 are great amps, pretty pricey for used even today. They are pretty old though and most need or have some new parts in them. 8ga might run that amp I am not sure, or you can always double it up if its not enough. I ran a 300w soundstream on 8ga for a bit but it went loud enough and so I did not care about voltage drop. Actually it was off the car's fuse box too, I just tested it then ran it for a few weeks that way on a single 12.

Must be a good friend. I'd still like to have a 2002 or 3002.
The old Linear Power amps weren't really high-current amps, 8 gauge should be fine. Be sure the ground connection is solid and to clean metal.
Thanks.
Besides the amplifier, power/ground wires, RCA cables, and a wire for amp remote, and speaker cable for the subs, do I need anything else?
Also does anyone have a PDF of a manual or anything?

IIRC they don't have a crossover or fuse in them, otherwise pretty easy to hook up are just like any other amp. This link should help with wiring, it is a similar amp

I installed lots of 2002/3002 amps new, they were my favorites of the LPs. If they were cheaper I'd still use them in my car. I have a couple 1002 now but if I can ever get them in the car to try I imagine they will not be large enough for me.

I took a quick look through the manual and just wanted to make sure I read it right.
Pretty much, is that how the power wiring should be?
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

The fuses are in parallel, as the amplifier can draw more than 30 amps of current. In addition, they should be placed at the battery connection.
I don't know what impedance your subs are, but note there is an internal jumper that should be configured for either 4 ohm (factory setting) or 2 ohm operation.
How about a picture to show it off when you get it?
