I am currently working on my first DIY boombox and being very new to DIY audio, I have a couple simple questions.
First...
I am planning on building my boombox with the Lepai Tripath TA2020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Amplifier. My first question is regarding the power. I have a huge capacity power bank...
Into circuit® Power Castle Series PC26000 26000mAh Multi-Voltage 5V/12V/16V/19V Huge Capacity Power Bank Charger
- 12V/4A,
- 16V/3.5A
- 19V/3A
I am hoping this will power the Lepai TA2020, and that it will run for a while. Can anyone confirm this?
Second...
I am trying to decide what to hook up to the amp as I have over half a dozen speakers sitting around waiting for a DIY boombox to give them life again. These include...
2 x 4" 10W 4ohm
2 x 4" 5W 4ohm
2 x 2" 3/5W 4ohm (originally used with 4.7uf 50v capacitors)
1 x 5" 20W 4ohm
My question is then, what combination of these speakers with the lepai TA2020 would give me the best outcome. My biggest concern is volume and disbursement of sound. My original plan was to build a cube and put the four 4" speakers each on on side. Any suggestions for ideal number of speakers, use of capacitors, and parallel vs. serial connections would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Trevor

That's a lot of money for not a lot of battery. Is weight an issue?
Do you have pictures of the speaker drivers? I'd probably go with the 2 x 4" 10W 4ohm

Well the battery pack is just something I carry with me to charge my phone/tablet/laptop. I admit it would not be my first pick were I purchasing it for the boombox, however since using it means not having to buy a battery I thought I would give it a go.
Here are some pictures of the speakers.

I am not sure what you are looking to see so let me know if you need some different photos.
Thanks,
Trevor
