Lepai amp - light comes on but no sound

Hi all
I've got a Lepai 2020A+ for a boombox that I've made. I've never had any problems with it but now when I try to power it with my motorcycle lead acid battery, the light on the amp comes on but no sound comes out... Yet when I tried plugging it into the mains and it all works fine.
Any ideas?

What is the voltage from your battery? If its too high then there is overvoltage protection which switches the amplifier off.

I'm using a 12V battery which has worked fine in the past so I don't think that's the problem
