have anyone seen/heard Larsen speakers?
Larsen - That sounds beautiful

i did some study and it turns out that they meet some of my favorite criteria..
1. should be placed close to the wall
2. small

i believe with properly designed dimensions as per volume requirements if any woofer chosen, they can be made to sit on some wall well disappeared.
on top of that, they do check most of the boxes as far as sonic qualities go as per the review at
Larsen HiFi 8 loudspeaker Specifications | Stereophile.com

so far i googled, i could not find much construction details on them. also no one tried cloning them it seems. maybe i will be the first one(!?)

A corner speaker has a unique set of challenges and is not an easy task, but IME has much potential. Your example seems like a fairly simple way to do it and it meets your primary needs.

Random thought - you have the opportunity to explore transmission line loading (not that you can't get the results with a closed box but here you'll be working with the longer dimension of the cabinet), or a rear loaded bass horn, which I once used out of a room corner and gave surprising bass extension, not-withstanding room modes.

The concept is very similar to Stig Carlsson's orthoacoustic speakers. Larsen himself used to work at the factory building Carlsson / Sonab speakers. The technical mind behind the Larsen speakers (up to Larsen 4 and 6 (?)) passed away in stomach cancer in 2014, only in his forties. He is very missed at some Swedish forums as he was such a generous person. The Larsen brand keeps on living though with some of the original guys.

(The speakers are not intended for corner placement. Up against the wall yes but away from corners. If you google on Carlsson / Sonab, the originals dates back to the 70/80:ies. Later Sonab are junk, the brand name was sold off. Similar pitiful story as with original Altec Lansing speakers versus modern plastic junk under the Altec brand name.)

Soundnovice:
I've written an FAQ about the Carlsson OA51 /OA52 speakers, which are very similar.
You can see filters and drivers, patents, Carlssons views on filters, placement of speakers and room treatment...
An easy start would be to build a Larsen L6 clone with the OA51 LE2 filter. or the OA51.3 one.
No one clones Larsen:s speakers because he is such a nice guy. He has actually helped in several groupbuys when we were cloning oa51, boxes, paint, filters and speakers.

Goggle translate is advised unless you understand swedish:

Adhoc: Anders made L4, L6, L8 and the center/surround speakers.

He was a close friend and we lived in the same city still missing in the circle of friends.

I often listened to different prototypes of these speakers except Larsen 8, whom I have only listened to as a finished speaker, I think I can probably help with some of the questions.

hi Anders,
its good to know that you have first hand experience with larsen speakers. i googled and tried to fig out their internal design but nothing much clear from whatever pictures available on web. i want to understand how the woofer is connected to the box below? and where is the vent located?
