Hi guys,

Basicly I bid for a laptop lcd screen on ebay then realised it is v dificult to get it to go to vga and won the bid - lol

N e how,

I understand im going to need some sort of controller to get it so that i can have a vga connection plugged into it.

Is there a cheap way to do this? I have no idea where to get a controller or exactly what else i may need.

If n e one has any advice please share ! 🙂

Thanks

Chris

You can ask these guys about a controller for that panel.

I have been kicking the idea around for a while now about useing a Laptop LCD and a A/D controller. I have a few differnt panels that would work perfectly if I could find someone to sell me a controller at a reasonable price. YOu are probably going to have to spend at least $180 or more. But I think the beauty of
a stand alone controller would be the ability to just get another panel on Ebay for a few dollars when your LCD panel goes "TU".
I have been talking to these guys but they havent gotten any controllers in in the last 3 months.

Also do a search in this forum, I think zardoz uses a laptop lcd and a controller. He got his from Spectrah.

I think the model he was using was pci though. For me the regular VGA stand alone would do just fine.

when you get your panel let us know what chips and maker you
can observe.
I have a panel from an IBM 600 13.3 inch and I suspect it is similar. Mine is not on the list at the site I posted

Mine appears to be LVDS 20pin but I have yet to match the house numbers on the chip to anything useful.
TI-texas instruments chip 144 pins-housenumber
TI makes timing and LVDS receiver chips but all the ones I have located are 100 pin -grrrr

if the chipset could be identified then reverse engineering may be possible.
