lanzar car stereo

I know virtually nothing about car stereos, except how to turn them on and off. I am a penny pinching mom who is trying to find a hopefully inexpensive solution to a car stereo problem.
My son purchased a Lanzar vbd400mp online and had it installed at a cc store. It worked for about a month.
He has no receipt for the unit.
Can anyone tell me if there is an internal fuse for the unit? The cost of the unit was much less than the cost of the installation, and I hesitate to try and get it repaired if there is a small fix we could try.
If I am in the wrong place, I apologize. I did a Lanzar search prior to making this post.
Any help or referral would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Most of their units are "cheap" korea products.

They have their own website at http://www.lanzar.com/

if you know somebody who is skilled in electronics , he/she can fix most of those amplifiers easily. usually there are just a few cheap parts broken, but repair shops charge a lot of money for their work.

If it is a new unit ask the seller if he would send you a receipt so that you can send the unit to Lanzar Audio with a warranty claim.

Some of the Lanzar car radios actually have a tiny RESET button behind the faceplate (the part you remove, or folds down). You can usually use an unfolded paperclip to poke through the little hole and depress the button for a few seconds.

Does the unit work at all? Does anything light up? A little more information will go a long way to helping you out. 😎

Hi....
I tried the reset with the paperclip and it did not work....I have used a paperclip to reset

things before and usually felt a little resistance when I inserted the clip. This time, I

felt nothing.
I saw and removed the 5 phillips head screws in the back of the unit but could not remove

the back...so I stopped there.
There are no lights at all, just one day he got in the car and tried to play a cd and

nothing worked at all.
He apparently had some problems playing burned cds before this.....there would be high

pitched noise over the words or music, and only the initial set of tracks would play. If he

later added mp3 tracks to the cd,the player would not recognize the new tracks.
Could the wiring be faulty? I know someone with a voltmeter. If not the wiring, could

another unit be installed into the same housing? Are any housings standard? We are trying to

avoid another large installation fee..............
Thanks so much for your input................I really appreciate it.

The high pitched noises don't sound like a good thing, but that may not be the reason for your troubles. There are two fuses behind the radio, one connected to a red wire and one connected to a yellow wire. The red wire receives voltage when the ignition switch is turned on. The yellow wire receives voltage constantly to preserve memories and clock settings. Sometimes the red wire doesn't have a fuse...

There should be one or two metal "keys" that slide into the sides of the radio chassis to remove it from the dashboard (unless it's installed in an import, in which case it will likely be rigidly mounted to a bracket behind the dash). There should be instructions on removal in the owner's manual.

Usually CC has an installation guarantee. Did you call them to see if they will check the fuses for you? They should do this free of charge. I have 10 years experience in car installation, and most shops will perform this check gratis.

If you need to remove the dashboard to get the radio out and CC doesn't want to help, go to www.installdr.com to get radio removal instructions.
