Hi, I have the chance to buy a pair of the aforementioned loudspeakers from a friend. I have done a search online but there doesn't seem to be a lot info wrt these speakers, is this a bad sign? ie they weren't very popular?
I do have a couple of questions though.
1. What was the general consensus on these speakers among the audio community?
2. Does anyone own/owned a pair of these?
3. How much do they go for generally here in the UK?

Hi Matt
Try asking this question over at the Audio Asylum website, in the High Efficieny forum. I think you'll be better served there. These forums are more dedicated to DIYing. 🙂
Enjoy,
Deon

Matt: you are not going to find a lot of Klipsch over in GB. I take it that these are Chorus not Chorus ll? The Chorus is a vented version with a K701 mid horn and a K79 tweeter both use a fifteen inch woofer the Chorus ll uses a fifteen inch rear passive. The bass of a Chorus can be extended with some reflex vent 7 - 7 inches long. This is imo a better version of the Cornwall and yes it is a good speaker. If you can get it for a reasonable price buy it and give it some time you may well like it a lot. Personally I prefer the mid horns used in the Chorus ll which is the same horn as used in the Quartet and the Forte ll. Others don't but the Mk ll mid horn is a hibrid Tractrix and it is larger and runs deeper than a K701 mid. The Klipsch forum would be your very best site for info. Most owners love the Chorus while many will argue the Cornwall is a better speaker The Chorus uses a better woofer and the Chorus ll uses a better mid horn. go for it and try it A good 35 watr PP EL34 amp will make it sing but you can also have sucess with larger SS amps. Hope this helps, best regards Moray James.
Cheers guys, I will have a look at the recommended sites.. I pick them up tomorrow so will let you know my first impressions.

lots of Chorus info
lots of Chorus info
In my mind the quality of the first watt is the most important. With direct radiators you will not hear what the amplifier is doing at 1µW but with Klipsch you will. That makes SET, small class T and other special solutions attractive. Be aware of that when you are listening.

Listen to Moray he knows his stuff.😉
I have owned the Fortes which are more the none ported baby version of these and they sounded great, when you get them and tweeking bug bites. I think you can get titanium tweeters for these bad boys. I have that tube gear sounds great with the Fortes I would assume that it would be the same with the Chorus.

Check out critesspeakers.com he has various upgrades for most older klipsch speakers. He should have the titanium diaphragms for the horns as mentioned above. They are supposed to be a substantial upgrade. Cheers.
Well I decided to buy them!
I checked them out and the cabinets need a little tender loving care all the screws on the horns are rusting and the binding posts had been snapped off of one speaker. But I still think they were a bargain so I brought them.
Got them home and MY oh MY they are huge!! And, (after stripping one down to its bare bones to do a temporary fix to the crossovers), they have a huge sound and dynamics to match. I connected them to my beefy power amp all I can say is WoW! I had a chance to turn them up a bit earlier today and in my small room they were loud!! Louder than I would usually listen to and the needles on my power amp were not moving at all so not even 1 Watt..lol I switched the meters to -20db and the needles barely hit 3 Watts : )
I have read a lot about bob crites titanium tweeter over on the Klipsch forum.
Has anyone here in the UK bought the upgraded tweeters?
Thanks again for all the recommendations..
