I picked up this 5 channel receiver today for next to nothing. I tested it and it sounds pretty decent. So I've gone ahead and ripped it apart lol and am going to be upgrading the capacitors to improve it's power/filtering.
I'm also going to be completely bypassing the internal Preamp and install new female RCA connectors for individual direct inputs to the amplifier. I've looked through the service manual and located the Amp input stage to connect my L/R/C/LS/RS inputs.
The main amp board has 2 flex ribbon cables; 23-Pin connects to the Preamp board and 33-Pin connects to the front panel (vol controls, etc).
There's some misc signals carried from the ribbon cables such as current rca inputs, thermal sensor, voltage for mute control etc. In order to completely disconnect these ribbon cables and remove the unneeded boards, I know I'll need to figure out the input voltage (trigger) required to turn on the amp. I think this is done by the relay, but not entirely sure. Not sure if I'll need to do anything else either.
Can someone have a look at the attached pic and let me know what else I need to do in order to just run the Amp? Thanks.
