I picked up a Kenwood KRC-464L this weekend at a garage sale. Looked to be in very good condition. Couldn't find any info online for this unit. Figured out the connections on the rear panel and got it working. Has a cassette deck and the tape head looks like it was never used. Tapes sound great. FM works fine also. This radio also has a LW band and it increments normally, even though all you hear is noise.
Problem is the AM section. The stations don't make sense. Here are some frequency numbers:
603 810
612 819
621 828
630 837
639 ...
The tuner increments at 9kHz, not 10kHz. I cannot tune in any of the stations that are in my area. I don't see anything external on the radio that could change this. In the search mode, it increments at 9kHz and in the manual mode, it does the same thing.
Any ideas on what is going on?

Some of the later radios (may apply to this one) required that you key-in a sequence on the head unit to change the tuning spacing. You'd need the owner's manual to know if it applies to this unit.
As an example (won't work for your head unit):
FM/AM channel space switching
(KDC-MP828/X789/X8529/X889)
From the Power OFF condition, while pressing [1] and [5] keys
down simultaneously, press the [SRC] key and turn power ON.
