Kenwood KD 500 speed problem fixed - a TT FYI

I pulled my old Kenwood KD-500 out of retirement about 10 years ago and the turntable had a hard time working at all. Eventually it got to speed, but I noticed the speed controller pots did wanky stuff. But eventually It seemed to settle down.

Well, because I have three turntables, I still didn't play it much, but finally got my "mancave" up and running and pulled it out as my new "primary". I noticed some pretty serious wow, so I worked the speed adjust knobs back and forth. It didn't help and the 45 speed was worthless.

So, I turned it upside down, removed the base, and shot De-Oxit into the pots as a last resort. I didn't expect much and figured I'd probably need to replace them.

It worked. Both speeds rock solid now.
